February photo a day recap

As February comes to a close, so does the February Photo A Day challenge created by Fat Mum Slim. In case you missed my daily pics on my Facebook page, or on Twitter, I thought I would do a fun little recap with some descriptions behind the photos. So here goes.....a peak into our daily life.

Day 1. your view today: The first day of the month was a Wednesday, and my oldest is in pre-school on Wednesdays. So Carson and I were running errands, including dropping off my incredibly smelly, dirty dog for a grooming. Not even 5 minutes after we got home, she was rolling in the mud in the back yard again. I really don't know why I bother.

Day 2. words: Cole is learning how to read, so I picked up this fun word puzzle from Mellisa & Doug. Love their toys!

Day 3. hands: Always turning pages. My kids love reading (they take after their mama!) When we go to the library, we always come home with a dinosaur book as well as the kids new favourite, Elephant & Piggie books from Mo Willems. This series of books is so cute & funny & easy to read! We haven't read one yet that the kids don't like.

Day 4. a stranger: All the 'strangers' that subscribe to my blog. Even though we've never met, I feel like I'm talking to my friends. I really love hearing from all of you, and your comments always make my day:)

Day 5. 10am: It's Superbowl Sunday! Grocery shopping for the big game. We just had a few friends over to watch the Giants take on the Patriots. Bummed it wasn't the Packers again this year. And Yes, we are cheese heads.

Day 6. dinner. I've been trying really hard lately to use up all the leftovers in the fridge instead of throwing them out. So much wasted food, it's embarrassing! So for dinner we had leftover chicken wings from Superbowl Sunday along with a chicken salad.

Day 7. button. I have a 2 year old who really knows how to push my buttons! The picture speaks for itself.

Day 8. sun: The sun didn't shine at all, so Elephant & Piggie did a great job of demonstrating our emotions after being cooped up in the house on this gloomy day.

Day 9. front door: The smelly dog, Cole & his dinosaur guarding the front door.

Day 10. self portrait: It was snowing this day. Something that doesn't happen to often in Kentucky!

Day 11. makes you happy: Coffee. Can't start my day without it! The kids even know not to talk to me too much until I've had at least one cup. It makes me happy and feel warm and fuzzy inside:)

Day 12. inside your closet: This is a picture before I purged at least 50% of my wardrobe. I've been hanging on to a lot of my pre-pregnancy clothes that I know that I will NEVER wear again, so I donated most and consigned a few pieces. Now it looks empty. I smell a shopping trip!!

Day 13. blue: A blue dinosaur. We're a little dino-obsessed around here.

Day 14. heart: It's valentines day and we had pancakes with heart strawberries for breakfast.

Day 15. phone: The kids phone.

Day 16. something new: My 'new' thrift store finds. A pretty oval mirror, a couple of silver trays, and some milk glass.

Day 17. time: 8:30pm. The time to relax, watch some TV and do lots of pinning on my ipad!

Day 18. drink: Red wine. What I love to drink while relaxing and pinning!

Day 19. something you hate to do: Laundry. Ugh. The one chore that never seems to end. And I dread sorting socks. Don't even get me started on socks.

Day 20. handwriting: I always have a running grocery list. And even with list in hand, I somehow manage to forget something.

Day 21. a fave photo of you: My wedding pics. I really have never felt prettier than I did on my wedding day:)

Day 22. where you work: My desk where I blog. It's more of a hobby than work, but writing is my escape.

Day 23. your shoes: I used to be a heels girl. Never even owned sensible shoes until after I got married. Now I only wear flats. And my new favourite comfy shoes, my Chuck Taylors.

Day 24. inside your bathroom cabinet. Yikes! Must clean.

Day 25. green. I've been loving Kelly Green lately and spied these candle sticks at Hobby Lobby.

Day 26. night: We read to the kids every night, and yes, the books are usually about dinosaurs. I could probably become a Paleontologist with all the new found dino knowledge. Are we raising the next Dr. Ross?!?

Day 27. something you ate. We were in Canada for the weekend and ate lots of Ms. Vickie's chips. Salt & Vinegar are my favourite, followed closely behind by Dill Pickle and Ketchup. Yum!

Day 28. money: 2 Twoonies. One thing I don't miss about Canada is the constant pocket full of change.

Day 29. something you're listening to: Our Sonos is probably one of my favourite things in this house. We use it all the time, and I love listening to Adele. Can't get enough of her!

To be honest, I really enjoyed doing the challenge but was unsure whether or not to continue with the rest of the months, until I put together this little collage and wrote this post. I've never really documented our daily life before, and now I realize that even the small mundane everyday things are becoming our family history. Our story.

My Grandmother has lived a fascinating life, but ask her and she would just think it ordinary. She has suitcases full of journals that she has wrote in EVERY DAY. Even if it's just about the weather or what was on T.V. that day. I love it when she calls me up out of the blue and says "Do you remember what we were doing on this day 5 years ago?!" Of course I don't because I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but it's cool to reminisce and remember how different life was 5 years ago.

So I think I will continue with the photo a day challenge, to give my kids a chance to have a 'journal' to look back on in 10 years from now and say 'remember when we were OBSESSED with dinosaurs?!

I won't be posting my images on Facebook or Twitter daily, but you can see them on Instagram @JTBeesKnees and I will do a month end recap again.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me and my day to day life this past month, and I really hope you stick around to see more! If you are interested, here is the new calendar for March Photo A Day, and if you want to join, head on over to Fat Mum Slim to find out how to play.
