DIY Marbled Butterfly Art
I'm all about creating your own art. It's fun to do, personal, and relatively inexpensive as well. And its easy enough for even a beginner to do, as I show step-by-step here and here, and oh yeah.... here too.
Last year, I made these DIY Marbled Coasters, and of course my mind started spinning as to what else I could marbleize around the house, and into my head popped an image of some sort of 3D art. I rummaged around my craft drawer and lo and behold found a package of these Tim Holtz Grungeboard Elements . The butterflies spoke to me.
Get a small tray and fill with water. Pour in a few dollops of your nail polish colors. Take toothpick and start dragging it through. Keep swirling until your desired pattern is reached. But don't take too long...this stuff dries fast. Take your object and dip the face of it into the nail polish bath. Quickly lift out and flip over. Let dry. Mount object on piece of fancy paper, frame and voila! Done.
P.S. See my gallery wall reflected in the mirror?! I'm so in love.
