Curating an art collection with Minted and a discount code!
One of my goals this year is to start building an art collection. Last year, I incorporated some art into my gallery wall of travel photos and would like to add some more pieces as I tackle a family photo gallery. As much as I would love to buy original pieces and support the artists that work so hard on their craft, my budget doesn't always allow for this. But thanks to the magic of the world wide web, its easier than ever to get some unique art prints for your home and still support the artists behind them.
Minted is one of my favorite places to look for quality art prints for my home. It's an online community of Independent Artists from around the world, making their art available to you in the form of high quality affordable prints.
Another thing I love about Minted is they offer really cool design tools to help you curate your own collection. You can add pieces you have been eyeing to a mood board, a pin board, or even an art wall in a home-like setting, to see how the pieces look together. It takes a lot of guesswork out of wondering how your favorite prints will look together!
Check out a few art walls I made with some of my favorite pieces.
Topanga Hat Wearing Surfer by Annie Seaton
(Yao is one of my favorite watercolorists! This one is definitely going to be in my collection.)
Untitled 1B by Jaime Derringer
Pining for Pineapple by Joni Tyrrell
(I love this print and also featured it in my Trendy Tuesday pineapple post.)
Mid-Century Moments by That Girl Studio
Apertures No.2 by Genna Cowsert
Now the hard part is deciding which ones to choose! But Minted has made the decision a little bit easier by offering 15% off Sitewide with the code: HAPPYSPRING .
This offer ends Monday March 16th 2015, so don't delay! Which one of these would you choose?!
And to help you out a little bit more, here are a few tips to help guide you in the art selection process when planning a gallery wall:
- Vary Scale: Mix the size of your prints and frames.
- Balance Color: Throw in a colorful print or two among a gallery wall of black and white photos for drama.
- Mix art styles: A graphic abstract looks great paired next to a detailed floral print.
