About Me
Like the age old saying goes, 'Time Flies'! The last few years of my life have been a whirlwind - I graduated from college with a degree in Interior Design, got married, had a baby, moved from Canada to the US, had another baby, and now here I am 6 years later wondering where did the time go?!
Design and Decorating truly are my passions in life, (along with some real food and great wine!) but I opted to put my career on hold to stay home and raise my 2 sons, (now 3 1/2 & 5) a decision that I will never regret. But now that the craziness of having 2 young kids is beginning to ease, and I can see a light to the end of a tunnel once filled with what seemed like an endless parade of poopy diapers and sleepless nights, I find my self asking, now what?!
I'm not ready to jump back into a full blown career yet, I'm enjoying my time at home too much! But as fun as it is, there is only so much talk about dinosaurs and dump trucks that a girl can take before she finds her brain starting to resemble a slice of swiss cheese! I have a very creative soul that needs to be fed (and it has been quite starved lately!). Like a lot of women I know, I have been too busy trying to be a great mom to my kids, putting their needs first, that I have truly neglected keeping in touch with the things in life that feed my soul. I love design, I like to cook, I enjoy being creative. I take pleasure in putting my personal spin on everyday things. I look around my big, beautiful home that we quickly furnished and half painted to be 'good enough' before baby #2 came along, and think to myself, 'where's the personality? the uniqueness? the personal touches?' (besides the crayon wall art and teeth marks on my furniture, courtesy of you-know-who!) I quite frankly just haven't had the time, or haven't made the time. So, what better time than now?!
So, here we are. A new Blog. A new journey. A place to inspire & be inspired. An outlet for me to ooh and ahh over the beautiful images I see as I flip through the pages of my Style At Home magazine and have more than a 1 sided conversation with my dog about the use of colour in the space. An opportunity for me to put into motion all of the home improvement projects that have been circling around in my head for the last 3 years! Basically, this blog is about me, feeding my creative soul, resurrecting my love of design, and opening up my home to you. So, I hope you will hop on for the ride, check back in with me from time to time & enjoy the journey with me, because Oh! how time flies!
