Faux Bois Cutting Edge Stencil Review and a Giveaway!!

I have a new obsession with Faux Bois wallpaper. Just look at some of these fabulous interiors!!

Aren't they fabulous?! I'm just loving this look! But unfortunately, this designer wallpaper is way out of my budget. So when I ran across this Faux Bois Stencil from Cutting Edge stencils, my heart went pitter pat. I could create the look with this wall stencil for so much less than it would cost to buy the wallpaper! I reached out to the wonderful folks over at Cutting Edge Stencils and they graciously sent me this stencil to review. I decided to tackle the Powder Room and give this plain space a facelift using the Faux Bois Stencil.

To begin, I started out by watching the how to videos on You Tube to get my technique down and learn the basics. Using the wall stencil couldn't be easier. You simply use the clip-on level (an absolute must have!) to make sure its level, tape to the wall using low tack painters tape, then roll on your pain using the foam roller. It's not necessary, but I also used a temporary spray on adhesive on the back of the stencil to keep bleeding to a minimal.

I wanted to keep the colors neutral and low contrast, so I chose Sherwin Williams Loggia SW7506 for the base, and Sherwin Williams Wool Skein SW6148 for the top. Here's a tip; when applying your
paint with the stencil, a little goes a long way! Roll your foam roller in the paint, then roll it on a paper towel to take off the excess paint. Apply the paint with even pressure and it will turn out beautifully.

Such an improvement from the dull boring blue-gray it was before, don't ya think?! I still need to style this space to take it to the next level. I'm thinking of adding a gold framed mirror and white accents...maybe some shelving too and a new light fixture.
